Weather:
Optimal.
Occasionally I get amazing things in the mail. A few months back my old friend Just Vick sent over a perpetual motion scuplture, some fantastic music and a recipe for cold brew coffee. I tried it and loved it so I asked him if I could share it on the site. He sent me back an updated version with pictures. I think he’s still tinkering with a newer version involving homemade teabags. I call this stuff rocket fuel cause usually I drink a giant glass of it in a minute or 2 and I’m out of my mind.
1. Get some mason jars, I use 0.5 gal
2. Put ground coffee in a mason jar and fill with cold water, 5 tablespoons for 0.5 gal. I use dark roast.
3. Screw on sealing lid
4. Place in fridge to brew for at least two days
5. Take another mason jar of same size and only screw on the rim of the top, not the cap that seals the top
6. Take the brewed coffee out of the fridge and remove the lid
7. Put a coffee filter on the top of this mason jar and screw the lid rim over it.
8. Poke two small holes on either side of the filter near the rim.
9. Place the empty mason jar on top of the full jar and carefully flip them.
10. Will filter for about 10m then you have cold brew coffee.
Notes: cold brew coffee is less bitter than hot brew coffee and has been shown to be healthier for you. To me it tastes more chocolatey, so I sometimes will add things like orange peel or cayenne pepper powder. You can mix the leftover grounds with water and pour on your inside or outside plants to fertilize them.
If you want to try but don’t have mason jars let me know. I have a couple extra that I’m trying to get out of the house.
Back in January we took a trip to Austin. Suhail put together a video with some highlights. Already looking forward to this year.
In other exciting developments someone wrote a pretty awesome article about Dude Life and was kind enough to throw this site into the mix. Don Pendleton has revived Darkroom with some new shirts and more importantly boards. Sunday 9/8 Paul Stacey will be showing stuff at the Peanut Gallery. Really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. Some solid photosnappers have launched Find Rangers as a place to showcase film and get together with like minded folks. definitely a daily stop, lots of amazing shots up there!
