Weather:
The wind burns your face and a day later it’s light jacket weather. Still more cold than good. Haven’t been outside enough lately.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been so long but I’m celebrating 7 years of Such Luck. As always I’d like to thank everyone who contributed, helped out, visited the site, went to shows, grabbed food, watched videos, skated, and made things. Without you this wouldn’t still be going. Hopefully I can keep it going for another year and be a bit more regular with updates. Having said that please take a seat because this one is a doozy.
For everyone who didn’t get a chance to see it on Public Access here is FareCard.

A few things I’d suggest looking into:
– Tim Johnson has updated his webstore with the third With Boys zine and prints. His top notch part from Chity also just surfaced on YouTube.
– Shawn Whisenant has launched a storefront for his fantastic zines, handpainted signs and artwork.
– Support the Kuumba Lynx / Connect Force Darkroom and get a great print.
– New City dives into Chris Smith’s Sofa King Gallery.
– There’s been a pretty steady stream of VHS filmed edits going up on the Bellafonte YouTube.
– HoePhase, the excellent follow up to Nagajoose, is online.
A few things on the horizon:
– It looks like the Ryan and Jackson are cooking up something awesome!
– I’ll be selling Parking Block zines at the Chicago Zinefest in a few weeks. Stop by and say hi.
This is a little edit from some old footage that I recently found. I think this was two years ago.
These are the things that happened:
Unfortunately my cat Chorizo has not been feeling well lately.
Alex after his trip to New York, the last time I pushed around the city.
The MCA. This rotates and every time I see it I think it might hit something but it’s been up for a couple months so I’m guessing they figured that out.
It hasn’t snowed much. Just enough.
Uptown.
Wrigley.
Door Bell.
Shoveling the whole lot.
Snow doesn’t stop the tacos.
Under the tracks.
A brief respite.
We escaped winter for a bit and headed down to Austin. Here are some of the pics from the annual Sweet Crew winter trip. These are a little out of order but you get the idea.
A few solid days of getting out earlier and coming back later.
Taken in the park at the capital.
Keep Out – We Recycle.
The usual self portrait. One of many.
Downtime.
Austin High ditch. First spot off the plane after a quick warm up at House park.
Nick P. killing it as usual.
Nick P. backlip at as the sun sets.
Sweet Crew!
We hit it a couple time.
Charlie tieing his shoe and watching the shredding.
First shot on a new roll.
Suhail with the frontslide and roller revenge.
Hotel life.
On one at the Yellow Jacket Social Club on the last night.
Ballsdeep.
Gorilla run?
I figure they’ll probably rename this.
This is the Plugerville Park. It’s on a video game level. I think Suhail has some good footage from there that’ll come out eventually.
Shitfuck.
Pink sky of texas.
It’s Texas so of course we skated ditches. Nate front pivot on the barrier at Cfan.
Charlie backside pivot on the barrier at Cfan.
Me with a tailblock on the parking block.
Nick with a classic trick at a classic spot. Boneless at Cfan.
Suhail brings the nocomply.
Carving it.
Kickflipper.
Another of the usual self portaits.
Last day of the trip. Morning roll around at House Park.
Girl and dog. House Park.
Charlie should move back to Chicago.
Derek Mills, never met him before the trip but assuming I’ll skate with him again in the future. Good dude.
We ate plenty of meals at the mega-whole foods. I wish more places here served breakfast tacos.
Since I was in Texas I went to grab some BBQ. When I showed up at Franklins this was on the door.
That didn’t mean every thing was sold out just pretty close so I waited it out.
Well worth it. Brisket and a beer.
Here’s a quick edit from our last morning at House Park.
Back in Chicago.
I got to see the Film Por Vida show and help pack it up.
Absolutely outstanding work by everyone.
Also checked out the You Are Beautiful 10th anniversary show. Really inspiring.
I put together this photo sculpture to be burned at Vistation Rites at the Franklin.
Another view.
Chris Smith’s companion installation.
Natural cooling.
The fire.
The fire and the guardian of the fire watching over.
Into the fire it goes.
Up in flames.
The mastermind, Chris Smith, filming the proceedings.
The foosball table being played until it was unplayable.
A great evening.
Starting to figure out the 2013 edition.
