Weather:
Blow the man down type winds. The outlook for the near future is promising though.
Autumn is here! I know that means winter is right down the hall but for now I’m enjoying crunching through the leaves. Things have been busy and there’s some stuff simmering on the stove but I’ll get to those next time. For now here is a variety of things I’d suggest taking a look at.
First here are a few videos:
- The Warriors have been busy, Michael Chilla found time to put out 2 parts,. one shared with Indio and one shared with Anthony. Good work all around.
- Bellafonte and the Yeah crew have been putting out some lofi episodic edits.
- We miss him here in Chicago but it’s good to see Charlie out west traveling and shredding .
- Amber B’s Hallowen vid doesn’t feature any stuntboarding but it certainly sets the mood for next weekends ghouling and ghosting.
With the holiday season around the corner I thought I’d get the gift suggestions started a bit early. I think it’s important to support artists and friends who are out there trying to make things happen and these are all people who are putting in the work:
- Snacki has a new zine that you can grab at Uprise or his site. He also has a bunch of good paintings and other nonsense over there.
- Lou Shields just took down his solo show. He has the second issue of "Skatetrips from Hell," and a new cd out. Pick those up when you see him at Wilson or from his site.
- The final zine recommendation I have is Eric Knoll’s Outsider Mistakes. Easily one of the best things I received in the mail in a while.
- Toymaker and artist extrordinare Steven Erst just opened his site for business with a full line of Liver Diet shirts, hats and pizza bats.
- Finally, Jeremy Tubbs is trying to get back on the road to finish his documentary "Longing to be Homesick." Kick into his Kickstarter and help him keep the camera running.
I’m also really into the new Pioneers of Industrial Design stamps. Pick those up and send some mail out.
These are things that happened:
The new stickers are here. They’re a pretty good fit for trucks. If you want a stack give me a yell or find me rolling around.
Spent quite a bit of time here. Not an ideal warm up spot.
A belated happy birthday to Ryan and Zack. This was the first roll I shot with my new used camera. Still learning. I’m happy with the blur.
Stephen’s been killing it lately.
Nick P and Tom G. Always killing it.
Impressionistic. Not a make. He got worked going for it.
Morley’s legs healed up and he’s back in action.
Out filming when the light is best.
Post szechuan lurkfest.
A few shots of Tom and Wilson. Shallow end full tilt.
Shooting blind. Testing angles.
I wish I got to skate with the other Tom more. One of the best dudes around.
The usual self portrait.
Shadow and reflection.
Spent some time in the alleys walking the tracks.
Cross paths.
Heading back up.
Repeater.
Downtown roll around on a Friday night.
We were skating a spot and some dudes on long boards rolled up and said, "Hey there outlaws. You guys want to skate down to millenium park with us?" Then we got kicked out.
The Museum of Science and Industry.
Behind the Museum in the park is the Osaka Japanese Garden..
This is where we were married.
On the day of our ceremony it rained a lot. The morning we went back it was beautiful.
To celebrate our Anniversary we headed up north to Great America to ride rollercoasters. I spied this dream spot.
We ate terribly.
We rode rides.
We had top drawer little kid fun.
This spot is perfectly acceptable.
There was a gang of youngsters who cheered and booed and demand high fives as you rolled up.
It’s always fun skating with Dan.
Stephen powered through this. It was impressive.
I’m pretty sure Nick’s bummed on all my picture taking.
That’s it for this time.
If you see me give me a high five.
