Weather:
Fluctuating. Sunday was beautiful for January. Friday night we were in Indiana in the middle of swirling white out conditions. The snow was hypnotic.
Yesterday I saw a guy with a “Captain Grandpa” shirt.
Here are a number of things you may want to spend hours looking at:
Suhail’s around the world adventure. The Thai hot dog looks awful.
Scott Gall is a Roger.
I repaneled an old Cloak and Dagger Dr. Doom pic.
Permanent Vancecation.
I flew a flag over the expressway as part of the Temporary Allegiance Project. (some pics below)
I’m too old for the Tumblr world but here’s three midwestern AZ residence worth a look: TJ Larsen, Pat Shore and Michael Kryger.
The new season of Quiet Life clothing is available on the intertron and finer local establishments. The best head wear out there in my personal opinion. Submit your best shoots to the Camera Club while you’re there.
Finally, Parking Block Publishing has new zines waiting to be stapled. There’s a pretty heavy release schedule for 2011. Stop by when in week or so to get the scoop.
I didn’t post in December because things got crazy with the holidays and the I broke my wrist at Cream City. No amazing stunt. No good story. I just landed wrong. Ended up skating a few more hours and then got it sorted when I got home. I go back next Thursday to get re-xrayed and see what’s what.
Before this happened I was about halfway done with this year’s holiday mailing. Unfortunately everything is stopped until I get the cast off so if you’re wondering were your holiday package is please hold steady and you’ll get it in a month or so.
I also had a cyst removed and now I have a pretty swell scar. I’m starting to look like one of these guys.
The new stickers.
Enough about me. These are things that happened.
There was winter weather.
Buster Bear has a birthday!
He had one of the best birthday parties I’ve ever been to. Too much fun.
This is his yearly portrait pic.
Later that evening I got to see Nick. The holidays are always good for out of town visiting.
During the winter months I’ve tried to keep busy.
It seems like I haven’t been to Wilson in months
Lost in the fog.
Looking for spots.
Mysterious popcorn.
I went and saw Kyle Beachy read. It’s always interesting to see people doing what they excel at. Definitely recommended.
Uncontrollable exploring.
Max’s hot pepper bucket.
Short days.
Southbound Blueline
3 or 4 years ago (the same week in December) I flew a flag of Studs Terkel over UIC’s Gallery 400.
Since then he died so I put together a new flag for this revitalized project.
I’m glad I got to meet him.
He never stopped.
Another Chicago institution that could not live forever.
Nick Peterson got surprised!
He took it pretty well once the shock wore off.
Good food, family, friends, and laughter. What more could you ask for?
Good work everyone on putting it together and not letting it slip.
Sound advice.
The meanest of them sparkled.
The Chorizo cat is getting radiation so he can be more radioactive.
No.
Spent many good hours here.
Lawrence Red Line.
Late night fights.
One of my oldest friends rolled through for Christmas. It was interesting hearing Jason’s plan to eat Chicago. I’m not sure he accomplished his mission. He did bring me some great art and some great laughs. Hopefully I can get out to Portland to see him soon. Maybe in 2012.
I guess it was nice to have snow around Christmas.
Spent a lot of time driving to and from and around NW Indiana.
I saw Spike Lee in Walgreens on Christmas Eve. That was pretty amazing.
Backroads.
All that traveling wore me out.
Another long running holiday tradition.
Staying warm.
Dark too early.
I don’t think this is correct.
This also seems dubious.
Baby head in the bags at 12 past 1.
Watch over me.
Lou on New Year’s day killing it at Juans. This started the new year off properly.
Of course I started 2011 with some Twilight Zone.
And some more.
And more.
I think that’s it. I saw some movies, got tattooed and took an occasional nap. A pretty typical winter.
In 2011 I plan on lots of rolling around.
Making a ton of art and putting out some amazing zines.
And sharing good food with friends.
Let’s do it all in 2011.
I will never stop eating peanuts.
