Weather:
80s. Get out the sunscreen.
There’s a ton of stuff this week so no time for jibba-jabba.
Friday during the day there will be a Vans demonstration at Wilson. On Saturday during the day there will be another Vans demonstration at Roselle. I’m off work so I’ll probably be at one or the other taking some pictures.
Friday night is also the opening reception for Ben Brandt at Second Bedroom and Ben Russell in the Medicine Cabinet.
If you haven’t seen me around it’s because I’ve been making new stuff for this:
“You couldn’t possibly open the season with a more exciting show…Porous Walker from San Francisco. As always, Porous’s pieces will be affordable, and in some cases free. Money and free prizes will also be given out during the opening. This will be an experience not to be missed. The show, entitled “Feris Buehler” can be summed up with this quote from the artist: “The movie was pretty good, but the artshow will be better.”
San Francisco based Porous Walker and Chicago Natives, Gabe Levinson and Timothy Pigott will bring to life parts of the motion picture that were never seen. Mixed Media, illustration, Sculpture, Performance and other things will be featured in the show. No stranger to controversy, this trio was recently detained in Mexico while installing a large sculpture on the roof of Presidente Fox’s country home. They have been bailed out and will be present at the opening.

Okay now for the usual stuff starting with this mirror picture by Chris Poquette.

I finally made it over to the new Logan Square park to see the complaints in person.

I don’t hate it. I’m sure I’ll be back eventually. If it was closer I’d roll by after work.

Tagger name or subliminal advertising?

Since the weather’s been nice it’s back to early mornings at Wilson. Here’s Gordon having a wardrobe meltdown.

Justin nose bonk up the rail.

I really dug this shirt.

GnarTom backsmith.

I heard this kid’s making a comeback.

Mikey Hottman backside layback. One of my all time favorite tricks. My buddy Dan used to have them on everything. You still got em Dan?

I liked it so much I took it twice.

You know summer has officially arrived when Rich shows up.

We went and filmed some stuff at Lane that will probably be used in some sort of ‘end of the summer’ edit. Spencer came through with the trick of the day. Then we went for Italian Ice.

I think Spencer is praying.

Mark with the action shot.

Currency Exchange Fashion Depot?

That night Chad and Nikki held a gathering celebrating Cheese, Chocolate and Wine.

I skipped the wine but not the cheese assortment.

Sugar rush overdose.

Then we went and saw Closing In.

They played some music.

Pick up the demo if you can.

I saw this when I was dropping of some art. I thought they had perfect malt liquor and stopped making different kinds but I was wrong. I’d never seen this one.

Food? Certainly. Noonakabob.

Hit up Fulton. I keep wondering how long before the spots killed.

Got some good pictures of Mark that I’m using for something else. He got some glass in his hand and had to improvise.

These two rolled by on a tandem bike.

The Artist Run Chicago show opened on Mother’s Day at the Hyde Park Art Center.

It was packed.

Seriously packed.

Tons of great stuff. It’s running for a while so get down and check it out in person.

I was asked to participate as one of the Medicine Cabinet Alumni.

My piece is kind of on the fringe.

Here’s the front a bit closer.

And the back.

There was a trip to the suburbs. Danger Dan front 5.

Me, smithstall.

Nate up and over.

Front feeble on the best quarter pipe ever.

Here’s some cloud footage.
I’ve got some paintings by Ricky and some photographs I need to post. Maybe next week. Probably not. Too much work.
Time hates me.
