not never for nothing
Monday, September 29th, 2008Weather:
There was that one weekend where it rained and everything flooded. I think they’re still cleaning that up in Indiana. Then it was summery but now it’s feeling a bit like fall. No snow. That’s a good thing.
Last time I said I was going to post a recipe but you’re going to have to wait a week or two more because I didn’t get it together.
Carey Primeau takes really amazing pictures of decaying architecture and you can see his work at the Chicago Art Open. Congratulations on being selected as a curators choice. It’s well deserved.
Chris Smith wrote up a ridiculously flattering introduction and description for my presentation at The Medicine Cabinet. I’m not sure I can live up to it but I have been working on something that I think’ll be pretty top notch.
Since winter will be here soon I’ve been accumulating ideas and source material that needs to worked. Somethings to look for, new stickers and collaborative shirts. This picture is the start of another project that I need to finish before fall. If you like to skate the plaza at night give me a yell.

That’s it for art stuff.
I went and saw the Party Downers a few weeks back. The undisputed heavyweight champions of Chicago skate rock at it’s finest. The record should be out soon. I’ll let you know where to find it when I hear.

Remember how I was talking about the rain. Well it kind of killed the Renegade Craft Fest.

Dr. K came along and tried to steal this umbrella dog.

He just celebrated his birthday so add that to the list of September birthdays that I gotta wish. Jose’s birthday was a while back but more on that later. Since we were going to the rainy craft fair we had to make the pilgrimage to Irazu. Good food, good price. It’s what I’d miss if I moved.

The only oatmeal milk shake I know of.

Steak Tacos with hot peppers and sour cream.

Of course there’s been some skating.
Don’t worry, Luis has mostly recovered from his softball ankle turn.

Last time Chris had on a tyedye shirt. This time he’s got a Hamm’s and tyedye bruise.

Marfa has taken a bit of time off from Wellborn Clothing to skate. Crail over the hip.

One of the usual spots. Koonz at the U.

The other day we were at Wilson and the Action Team was plotting a day of street skating. It was pretty inspiring and made me nostalgic for days of just skating around and finding stuff. Hands down. They rule.
Morley with a smith grind.

Steven with a wallie.

Anthony with a krook.

Szymanksi’s been doing some documenting via the video camera. And unlike me he actual edits and gets the footage up in a timely fashion:
The Carwash Ramp
Ten Tricks with Alex
Random Wilson Homies
Also, I don’t post these every time because I figure you should just check SkateIllinois, KaratePhotography and EXP every day.
As I said before it was Jose’s birthday earlier this month. Before he moved back to California we put together this tribute to the early days of skateboarding VHS tapes.
And finally the end of summer street edit.
That’s all I got.
