sock tan squad

Weather:
Pretty much every day the humidity builds up and explodes into some type of tornado or down pour. I take that back, last night it was pretty perfect.

Due to a number of conflicts and scheduling situations the first annual Such Luck – Win for Life BBQ has been postponed but now its set in stone. I should have a flyer put together next week. For now:
Mark your calendars – Sunday, July 13th – Noonish
An afternoon of burgers, hot dogs, beer, soda, water, lemonade, sun burn, high fives, friends, tomfoolery and skateboarding. Be prepared to compete in the best wheel screeching quarterpipe trick, most unusual streetplant, the new Ray Barbee challenge, (most no-comply’s in a line with no variation repeated) and everyones favorite, the Alex GED clothing challenge. (best Alex outfit)

Here is Alex trying to win the shirtless contest. You can see older posts for better Alex outfit examples.

I was going to give out dollar store purchases and my old flatspotted wheels as prizes but Yeah Boardshop kicked down some goods for the cause. I’m still rounding up some other awesomeness that you can win. I hope to see you there.

This Saturday you should head down to the Bottom Lounge to see the Effigies and the returning champs, the Partydowners.

Loucifer’s got a ruckus machine, a camera and skates more than any one you know. You can read about all his road tripping, art making and tornado chasing at his new site, EXP skate.

Lou’s partner in crime and travel, Calabro, sent over some shots. A good reminder to wear your brain bucket when trying complex stunts. Grant.

One time Nicholas Venaglia sent me a photograph of Prince on television. Here is his long overdue site.

Jason is an Oddball. He also revamped and relaunched his site. He has an amazing print for sale but I’m not sure how you can go about getting it or seeing it. Maybe you have to go to Portland.

Last week Rui mailed me some of the finished copies of “Chicago Obituary Pictures.” It’s a bunch of my portraits in zine format. All of my copies are already gone but if you didn’t get one you can check Soyfriends. I think they may be available there sometime. While you’re at it you should pick up Rui’s latest work “Hoytiden.”

Also, I updated the homepage and changed some things around. So if you didn’t come from there, take a look.

My family was in town. We ate often and we ate well.

We also drank last year’s Dark Lord.
