Weather:
It was in the mid 70′s yesterday. On Sunday morning, the ground was wet even though it didn’t rain. Possibly some sort of concrete sweat. Today it’s back to being seasonal and 50.

There’s a new dollar coin with George Washington and that’s okay but I’m really excited about the new stamps that come out next month. They don’t have a price they just say “Forever,” and they will remain valid even as the price fluctuates. Yup it’s the little joys that make the world spin quicker.

I’m looking forward to Rupture on Friday. Also this weekend in Chicago is this odd film celebration of the 4 hip hop pillars. I think one of them involves animated dentists. It’s at the cultural center which is one of the best places in Chicago. Awesome building and some of the best art shows I’ve seen. Before the movies and the articles they had a pretty complete Henry Darger show. They also had some sort of “art from mental institutions show.” I’m sure it had a better name but I really dug the pages covered with cartoon men and mustaches. Also the shows are free.

One of the best, Don Pendleton is having a show in Louisville on April 20th at the Butcher Block Gallery. Pefect time to plan a little road trip. Hit the park and then hit the show or reverse that cause the park has stadium lighting. Buy stuff cause he’s possibly unemployed.

Here’s a few shots of Mike Owen skating the mitten bowl at Wilson from Sundays lurk szechuan.

Grinding frontside at speed

There was fog at some point. I think that was Saturday though.

I’m taking a few days off next week so hopefully I can get caught up with some of the lingering projects. I’ll probably just eat a bunch of tacos though.

Sam, get in contact.

Weather:
I was fascinated by the clouds tonight on my train ride home. The sun shot through spots in the distance but closer they clouds were inky and moving quickly. Rain pounded the windows and all the other commuters stared out and shuddered. Then the Damen stop arrived and I had to stop staring at the sky and go out into the downpour and face it. I think it’s in the 60′s at the moment.

First things first, I’m putting together this food zine. Take a look and submit something if your so inclined. I’ve already gotten the first picture so things are rolling. The dealines a ways off so there’s time. Get to work.

In honor of this fine new project here is an old picture I made some time ago that I really like.

Unshellable

Yesterday was the first day of spring and I went to see the MCA photography show.

MCA Chicago

The photos were pretty good. They had a Larry Clark room and a spooky room and some weird rave flyer picture that didn’t seemed to have anything to do with photography. I didn’t notice this in the past but theres a lot of drinking fountains at the MCA and for some reason they’re all in closets. Maybe that’s some sort of art statement about water that I don’t get.

I also did some research.

Not a spot.

Nathan Baker’s show Rupture opens on Friday, March 30th. Check it out if you can. I’ll be there checking the photographs.

The early morning szechuan season starts now.
