the laundrymat, the most depressing place in the world

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

Weather:
An upswing into the mid-20s.

I wrenched my back this morning at Krush. It was worth it.

Friday was the opening for the Apple Pie show and Skateboard Deck Invitational at Exp Gallery. Easily the best party/art show/shindig I’ve been to all year. Eric’s pictures of the night are posted at OMSB and Tony put together this flash slideshow. Tony’s photo’s are pretty extensive. Check both sites if you’d like to see quality photographs of the work and the evening. Here are some polaroids I took. They’re mostly blurry and yellowish. Here’s a few of my digital shots…

The place was packed

This was early in the night. It got unwalkably packed.

such lurk

Such lurk.

High-five to everyone who came out, all the artists and of course Lou for putting it together. The shows up for the rest of the month. Go on a Saturday and spend some money.

Happy birthday Ted.

Happy birthday Abe Lincoln.

snow spiel

Weather:
You gotta be joking. It was twenty below for a few days and then it warmed up enough to dump snow.

A final reminder about the show at exp this month. The openings on Friday from 6-10. I hope to see you there. There should be a lot of roof raising. I’ll post up photos of the work and the openings next week.

Got a postcard from Ricky. He lives in a land down under.

Bernie sent me an old picture of his car. I know I’m getting old cause just seeing this made me smile all day. I’m glad to have those memories. Here’s one of them: On a cold ass day like this many years ago we all piled in and hit the highway straight out of school and headed 2-2 1/2 hours to skate Rotation Station which later became something else but back then it was Rotation. Halfway through the session one of the kids working there tells Bernie to go look at his car. Some local Rockfordians didn’t care for the skateboard and smashed out the back window. The trek back was freezing. There was snow. Kopack still remembers huddling in the backseat and laughs about it. Best Dodge Dart ever.

This car could change your life

That’s it for today. Still working on the 1 year anniversary overhaul.

It’ll probably be late.
